ON SITE TESTS

Thyroid Temperature Tests                          $15

This simple take home test using a special silver thermometer can help pick up subclinical overactive or underactive thyroid functioning where blood tests may not.  Combined with a simple iodine patch test, this provides an accurate screen for thyroid problems.

Urinary Malabsorption Test (Indican)            $20

The small intestine is usually sparse in bacterial activity. In contrast, the large intestine normally houses several types of bacteria including Escherichia coli(E. coli), bifidus, and lactobacillus species. These bacteria thrive on the left-over materials, take up space, and make it an inhospitable environment for more pathological types of organisms. Sometimes other bacteria or fungi do take over in the large intestine and then push past the IC valve into the small intestine (often called Small Bowel Bacterial Overgrowth Syndrome -or SBBOS). Causes of this may evolve from the use of antibiotics, diet choices, or physical inadequacies of the IC valve.

The indican test is a quick and efficient screening exam that assays the possibility of dysbiosis using a patient's urine. During occasions of overgrowth, bacteria intercept the amino acid tryptophan before it can be processed by the small intestine. They break it down into unique parts which are then absorbed by the small intestine, changed around in the liver, and then excreted in the urine. Tryptophan is a complex essential amino acid. Amino acids are the building blocks for proteins and the essential ones are not synthesized by the body and thus must be acquired from the diet. Besides being part of proteins, tryptophan is also the precursor for serotonin, melatonin, and the B -vitamin niacin.

Urinary Calcium Test (Sulkowitch)                $5

The chemicals oxalic acid, ammonium oxalate and glacial acetic acid are added to distilled water and this mixture is then added to a urine sample causing the calcium to precipitate and to be measured.  The amount of calcium in the urine directly correlates to the amount in the blood.  People who may need this test are those with bone/teeth weakness, hypertension, osteoporosis, insomnia, brittle nails, twitches/cramps, palpitations and dry mouth.

Urinary Adrenal Test (Koenisberg)               $10

Silver Nitrate and Potassium Chromate are used to measure the amount of chloride in a person's urine. Measuring the urinary chloride is an indirect way of measuring sodium and potassium excretion to determine the health of the adrenal glands.

Heavy Metal Screen  Test                               $20

The scientifically-documented Heavy Metal Screen Test allows the detection of free electrically-active heavy metal ions in an aqueous solution by means of a simple procedure - and just in a few minutes.  This method based on the dithizone reaction method has been around for more than 60 years.  This test can also be used to test your drinking water from your taps or any food containers that may be leaking metals into your food (ceramic mugs).

Free Radical Evaluation                                 $25

Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a by-product of free radical activity and this is what the test kit measures.  Studies and researches have concluded that free radicals cause degenrative diseases such as cancers, tumours, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, arthritis and others. Free radicals deplete the immune of the body. Free radicals reacts with the body's cells causing damage to the DNA and hinders cell reproduction. It stops the body from renewing itself and dying cells are not replaced quickly enough. The consequence is rapid aging. This is clearly seen in the skin where excessive free radical activity causes tangible evidence of skin aging. A lot of cancers are also caused by free radicals due to DNA mutation.

Urine Analysis                                                  $3

This simple and routine on-site test is included in your initial consultation to screen for common problems such as urinary tract infections, diabetes or illness.

OTHER TESTS

IgG Allergy Blood Spot                                    $180

Because IgG allergies are delayed hours or days after exposure and can be caused by multiple foods, they are virtually impossible to identify without testing.  They can contribute to things such as migraines, digestive problems, skin conditions, joint pains, runny nose and itching eyes and more.  IgE testing is useful for unexplained reactions like hives, or for uncovering allergies to inhaled particles.  Standard allergy tests done by a medical doctor only focus on IgE allergies.  IgG can be performed in office or at home with a simple finger prick.

SALIVA HORMONE TESTING

Specialized saliva tests help monitor age, lifestyle and disease related fluctuations in hormones such as estrogen, testosterone, thyroid hormones, progesterone and DHEA-S.  These can provide a more accurate perspective on imbalances than a simple single blood tests.

Adrenal Function Panel - DHEA-S and 4-Point Cortisol.  This is helpful for chronic stress, immune dysfunction, insomnia and other stress related diseases.  ($220)  A Two-Point Cortisol measures morning and evening cortisol only. ($110)

GASTROINTESTINAL HEALTH PANELS

We provide an impressive array of specialized gastrointestinal health panels to help provide more specific treatment protocols to those suffering from chronic and undiagnosed digestive problems.  These tests are not available through ordinary conventional medicine.  They provide information about parasites, ova, yeast overgrowth, fungal infections, flora imbalances, and more.

INSULIN RESISTANCE TEST

A new breath test called C Glucose Breath Test can help establish if you are at risk for developing diabetes.  This test can be useful to indicate where treatment is necessary BEFORE a diagnosis of diabetes is made by your medical doctor.

HAIR ANALYSIS $80

Hair analysis is most often used when heavy metal toxicity is suspected as a causal factor for chronic health issues.  The protein in hair fiber holds the composition of the body tissues for a permanent period. By analyzing the hair fiber composition, you can tell what toxins have accumulated in the body tissues and what vitamins and minerals are depleted or too abundant causing an imbalance in body function.

COMPLETE 24 HOUR URINE STEROID HORMONE PANEL ($300+ )

Our steroid hormone profile provides considerably more information about the hormone status of an individual  than can be gleaned from individual measurements. In fact, we devised our profile, in contrast to so-called panels,  to furnish a quasi picture, the essence of which is greater than the sum of its parts. Due to the large number and  complex nature of the metabolic pathways of steroid hormones, profiling has been a goal since the late1960's.  The test includes 6 types of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, Cortisone, Cortisol, Thyroid Hormones and more.  For more details visit www.rheinlabs.com

BONE HEALTH MARKERS

A specialized panel of tests provides information about bone markers that are a reflection of your bone health.  It includes markers such as DpD (Bone marker), Vitamin D, Vitamin K, Cortisol and more.

BREAST AND PROSTATE CANCER RISK TEST

A new urine test looking for the ratio of 2-hydroxyestrone (20HE1) to 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone (16OHE1), can help assess your risk for both breast as well as prostate cancer.  If these run in your family or you are currently at risk, this test can be useful both to establish your risk as well as to monitor improvements in treatments designed to minimize your risks.

STRESS TESTS

Your adrenal glands (sometimes referred to as stress glands) are extremely important for many functions such as energy production, muscle and joint functioning, bone health, immune health, sleep quality, skin regeneration, thyroid functioning, stress management, blood pressure and more.  If you are chronically stressed your adrenal glands may not be functioning properly and this can affect many areas of your health.  A specialized saliva panel can help establish the functioning of your adrenal glands.

THYROID SALIVA PANEL

Thyroid problems often go undetected by mainstream medicine due to the limitations of blood tests typically used.  The thyroid can effect everything form your utilization of vitamins to sexual functioning and sleep.  Despite what your blood tests might say, if you are experiencing fatigue, dry hair and skin, hoarse voice, cold intolerance, facial swelling, constipation, weight gain and/or excessive menstrual flow, you may have hypothyroidism.  Or, if you are experiencing nervousness, anxiety, fatigue, palpitations, weight loss, increased sweating, loose or frequent bowel movements and/or sleep disturbances, you may have hyperthyroidism.

ORGANIC ACIDS TEST

Screen for abnormal Organic Acid compounds due to abnormal levels of yeast and other gastrointestinal bacteria.  Common Test done for Autistic Children.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTANTS PROFILE 11 Analytes $160
