Special Tests
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Autism is multifaceted, often caused by imbalances in the endocrine system,
neurological system and gastrointestinal response. These imbalances can be caused
by or compounded by toxic overload. A wide variety of tests can help fine tune a
treatment plan for autism, greatly increasing its efficacy. Here are some of the most
important tests for autism:
- Urine Organic Acid Test (OAT)
- Comprehensive Stool Analysis
- Food IgG/IgA Allergy Panel
- Gluten/Casein Peptide Test
- Heavy Metal Analysis
- Advanced Metallothionein Profile (AMP)
- Immune Deficiency Panel
- Amino Acids Urine/Plasma
Bone Health Markers
A specialized panel of tests provides information about bone markers that are a
reflection of your bone health. It includes markers such as DpD (Bone marker),
Vitamin D, Vitamin K, Cortisol and more.
Breast And Prostate Cancer Risk Test
A new urine test looking for the ratio of 2-hydroxyestrone (20HE1) to 16-alpha-
hydroxyestrone (16OHE1), can help assess your risk for both breast as well as
prostate cancer. If these run in your family, or you are currently at risk, this test can
be useful both to establish your risk as well as to monitor improvements in treatments
designed to minimize your risks.
Environmental Allergy Testing
We provide onsite inexpensive tests to rule out allergies to cats, dogs, mites, dust,
trees, pollen, grasses and more. This test does not involve needles or skin prick
tests. Instead, a concentrated allergen is applied to the skin and after a period
of observation, a highly specific skin reaction may occur. This test is paired with
sublingual immunotherapy, compounded remedies prepared according to each
individuals allergic profile (as determined by the allergy test). These drops are
taken daily under the tongue. Patients report a dramatic 70% improvement in allergy
symptoms over time, and an even greater reduction on reliance on anti-histamines.
Food Allergy Testing
Food allergy tests provided by conventional allergists usually screen for IgE-mediated
allergies. Such allergies mostly occur shortly after being exposured to the offending
food and result in obvious symptoms such as hives, acute asthma and swelling.
However, other allergies exist that are called Delayed Onset Hypersensitivity
Reactions. These often cause more low-grade and delayed reactions that can take
hours or days and involve any site or organ system in the body. Because of this
delay we can be unaware of the link between foods we are eating and chronic health
issues such rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, migraines,
anxiety, eczema, psoriasis, and more. To find out more about such panels visit
www.usbiotek.com.
Gastrointestinal Health Panels
We provide an impressive array of specialized gastrointestinal health panels to
help provide more specific treatment protocols to those suffering from chronic
and undiagnosed digestive problems. These tests are not available through
ordinary conventional medicine. They provide information about parasites, ova,
yeast overgrowth, fungal infections, flora imbalances, and more. We also provide
on-site testing for Celiac disease. Visit www.greatplainslaboratory.com and/or
www.doctorsdata.com for more information.
Neurotransmitter Testing
Very specialized neurotransmitter tests are offered by NEUROSCIENCE that can
be helpful to identify imbalances for diseases such as autism, mental disorders,
Parkinson’s Disease, depression, ADHD, addictive behaviors, schizophrenia, sleep
disorders, anxiety, seizures, and more. Some of the hormones included are as follows:
epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, 5-HIAA, glycine, taurine, GABA,
glutamate, histamine. Visit www.neuroscienceinc.com for more information.
Sex Hormone Testing
Specialized saliva and/or urine tests are available to provide detailed understanding
of a wide range of hormones. Theses tests can be helpful for many issues such
as menopause, prostate disease, breast cancer risk, thyroid disease, infertility and
more. For more information about hormone testing visit www.rmalab.com and/or www.neuroscience.com.
Stress Tests
Your adrenal glands (sometimes referred to as stress glands) are extremely important
for many functions such as energy production, muscle and joint functioning, bone
health, immune health, sleep quality, skin regeneration, thyroid functioning, stress
management, blood pressure and more. If you are chronically stressed, your adrenal
glands may not be functioning properly, and this can affect many areas of your health.
A specialized saliva panel can help identify poor adrenal gland functioning. This can
be helpful for many chronic diseases such as autoimmune diseases, chronic pain and
inflammation, insomnia, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and more.
Thyroid Panels
Thyroid problems often go undetected by mainstream medicine due to the limitations
of blood tests typically used. The thyroid can effect everything form your utilization
of vitamins to sexual functioning and sleep. Despite what your blood tests might
say, if you are experiencing fatigue, dry hair and skin, hoarse voice, cold intolerance,
facial swelling, constipation, weight gain and/or excessive menstrual flow, you
may have undiagnosed hypothyroidism. Or, if you are experiencing nervousness,
anxiety, fatigue, palpitations, weight loss, increased sweating, loose or frequent bowel
movements and/or sleep disturbances, you may have hyperthyroidism. They thyroid
tests can involve the use of saliva, urine, blood and/or temperature monitoring to detect
imbalances.
Toxicity Tests
Without us knowing it, many modern day chronic health issues are the affect of an
insidious,s low-level, long-term exposure, to hundreds of toxins released into our air,
land and water every year. In response to thi,s many labs offer highly specialized tests
to identify heavy metals (such as mercury, lead and cadmium) as well as common
occupational, household and cosmetic chemicals (such as parabens, aromatic solvents
and phthalates). The affects are so widespread on our organ systems that they
virtually can play a role in any health issue including chronic allergies, cancer, infertility,
Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and more.
Toxins can be tested by ordinary blood tests. However, these are not very useful to
detect chronic exposure or real body burden (versus acute exposure). . Hair analysis
is a non-invasive way of testing and offers some insight into mineral and heavy metal
profiles. Most accurate is more specialized urine tests performed while taking an oral
chelating agent that can pull heavy metals out of your tissues, and therefore measure
your total body burden more accurately.
